Our culture would rather be told lies than be told the truth because we know how uncomfortable the truth can be. We know the truth doesn't work out in our favor. We know the truth tells us that we're wrong or that we make mistakes. The truth shatters our worldview because it shows us how we've been worshipping and following the god of self rather than God the Creator. Most importantly, we see truth as an attack and that hurts our feelings.
To pursue truth means to walk in the light, to live in virtue, and it points us to God. When we sit in the comfort of lies then we are subjecting ourselves to the schemes of the devil (aka the father of lies).
Would you rather be told the truth? [or] Would you prefer hearing something that has little to no truth but affirms your worldview?
